Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara recalled for the third time
India's largest car manufacturer Maruti Suzuki has announced a recall for its Grand Vitara due to possibly defective rear seat belt assembly. Notably, this is the third recall for the SUV in the last two months. In fact, its rebadged version, the Toyota Urban Cruiser Hyryder, has also been recalled due to the said reason.
Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara recall
The latest recall has affected 11,177 units of the Grand Vitara manufactured between 8 August and 15 November, 2022. A statement released by the automaker stated that there is a possible defect in rear seat-belt mounting brackets, which in a rare case, may loosen in the long run and impact its functionality. For this, Maruti authorised dealer workshops will reach out to the owners of the recalled cars for inspection and replacement of the affected seat-belt mounting brackets, free of charge.
Maruti Suzuki's previous recall announcements
In December 2022, Maruti Suzuki recalled 9,125 units of the Brezza, Ertiga, XL6, Ciaz, and Grand Vitara due to one of the possible faulty child parts of the shoulder height adjuster assembly of front-row seat belts. It recalled six models due to a suspected defect in the airbag controller unit earlier this month. This recall was made for 17,362 units of the Alto K10, Grand Vitara, Baleno, Brezza, S-Presso, and Eeco.
